In the late twentieth century, the new dentist profession, from America, was becoming increasingly popular in Paris and toothpaste demand grew. The modern and promising nature of this product encouraged a young couple to embark on an adventure in 1893 by offering customers the "American toothpaste powder" of chemist John Walton of Philadelphia to the public.
To give the toothpaste Email Diamant greater public impact, the couple had the brilliant idea of using a photo of their son Andre Barreau, a young singer. His wonderful smile, his greatest asset in conquering the stage, proved to also be the best ambassador Email Diamant. Thus was created the famous Email Diamant packaging, where for over 120 years now, "Andre Barreau de l'Opéra Comique" in the costume of Figaro, a role he held in The Barber of Seville, has stood proudly.
