Baby Vitamins

Baby vitamins are recommended by the NHS to support healthy development. They say that breastfeeding babies should have a daily Vitamin D supplement of 8.5 to 10mcg – babies on formula won't need this as formula already contains the vitamins a baby needs.

From 6 months to 5 years, it is recommended that vitamin A, C and D are given. The dosage of baby vitamins will change as your baby ages. Speak to your baby's GP or neonatal nurse practitioner about requirements.

Baby Vitamins FAQs

WHICH VITAMINS ARE BEST FOR BABIES?

There are many vitamins that are vital for babies. Vitamins A, C and D are important for growing newborns and babies. Vitamin D is important for bone and muscle health, as well as for regulating calcium and phosphate in the body. Vitamin A is key for a healthy immune system and vision, and helps keep skin healthy. Vitamin C is needed to absorb iron, another vital nutrient, and contributes to a healthy immune system.
