The Gucci story begins back in 1921. Inspired by both English nobility and master Italian craftsmanship, Guccio Gucci opened a leather goods and luggage company in Florence. Much of Gucci's early clientele were local horse-riding aristocrats, and their demand for riding gear led him to develop the unique Horsebit icon - an enduring symbol of the fashion house.
