Borage seed oil contains high levels (20-26%) of omega-6 fatty acids, known as gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and linolenic acid (LA). These acids are very important for cell health, function and structure. Your body converts GLA and LA into prostaglandins, which help to regulate the immune system and fight inflammation.

Side effects of borage oil include feeling sick, an upset stomach, digestive problems, skin rashes and headaches, although all of these symptoms are often reported to be mild.
