CeraVe For Blemish-Prone Skin FAQs

Is CeraVe Good For Blemishes?

Many CeraVe skincare products are good for dealing with blemishes, spots and skin redness. They have been formulated with dermatological advice to combat these specific issues in the most effective ways.

Our CeraVe Blemish Prone Skin collection includes cleansers, serums and gels. The CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser removes the causes of blackheads, blemishes, grime and dirt without disturbing the skin’s natural barrier. The CeraVe Blemish Control Gel is a moisturiser that provides moisture to help skin heal and reduces redness. The CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum brightens the skin to make it appear as though those marks were never there.

Is CeraVe good for acne-prone skin?

CeraVe is a dermatologist recommended brand for acne

Acne-prone skin is common in oily-skin types that have enlarged pores. Enlarged pores are more susceptible to blockage by dirt, dead skin cells or excess sebum. CeraVe blemish control products contain 2% salicylic acid which cleanses the pores of excess sebum and helps to reduce sebum production.

Niacinamide is also a key ingredient in CeraVe products for blemish-prone skin. It lowers the skin’s oil production and so can reduce one of the contributing factors that causes spots and blemishes.

Is CeraVe Good For Acne Dark Spots?

The CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum is good for acne dark spots. Retinol increases cell turnover so it promotes faster healing from acne scars. Retinol’s anti-inflammatory properties improve hyperpigmentation whilst brightening the skin, further fading the appearance of dark spots and leaving you with a clear and even skin tone.

How Long Does It Take For CeraVe To Clear Acne?

A consistent skincare routine is the best way to clear acne as quickly as possible. CeraVe products are formulated to work as effectively as possible but they aren't magic. It can take up to eight weeks to see the full effects but you should see improvements in your acne before then.

It is important not to be put off the treatment in the first two weeks when skin may have more blemishes due to purging. Purging is a sign that the skincare is working as it is a result of the oil and dirt coming out from beneath the skin’s surface.

If your acne is not improving even with regular use of products targeted at dealing with blemishes and spots, consider speaking to your GP about solutions.
